IKOYI, Lagos, Nigeria – The death toll in the 21 storey building that collapsed at Gerard Road, Ikoyi has risen to 40, following the discovery of additional 4 bodies early today.

So far, only 9 people have been rescued alive, while 31 others were pulled out dead.

The 21 storey building collapsed on Monday, November 01, 2021 in the early hours during a tour of the building by the developer, Femi Osibona of  Forescore Homes.

Till date, the identity of the owner of the building remains shrouded. The Lagos State Government has deliberately refused to disclose the identity of the owner.

There have been allegations that the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo owns the land where the collapsed structure was erected but he has denied the allegation.
