LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 403 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of the pandemic in Nigeria to 16,085.

But out of the 16,085 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, 5, 220 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged, while 420 others could not make it alive.

A breakdown of the 403 new cases showed that 73 new cases were found in Gombe, 68 in Lagos, 46 in Kano, 36 in Edo, 35 in Abuja, 31 in Nasarawa, 17 in Kaduna, 16 in Oyo, 15 in Abia, 13 in Delta, 13 in Borno, 8 in Plateau, 7 in Niger, 7 in Rivers, 6 in Enugu, 6 in Ogun, 3 in Kebbi, 1 in Ondo, 1 in Anambra and 1 in Imo State, the NCDC has said of new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria

Globally, there are currently 7, 854, 514 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while 431, 543 patients have passed on based on statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States of America still leads among nations most affected by the Coronavirus pandemic, reporting 2, 091,348 confirmed cases, while 115, 706 patients have died, followed by Brazil which has hit a new record of 850, 514 confirmed cases with 42, 720 deaths.

But in the last 24 hours, Brazil has recorded 27, 705 new cases and 892 new deaths.

Next in line is Russia, which is now the most affected country in Europe in terms of total population infected. 

Russia has reported 528, 267 confirmed cases with 6,938 deaths, followed by India with 320, 922 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 9, 195 deaths and then the United Kingdom, which  now has 297, 342 confirmed cases of the pandemic with, 41, 783 deaths.

Spain is the next most affected country in Europe, reporting 243, 928 confirmed cases with 27, 136 deaths, followed by Italy which has documented 236, 989 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 34, 345 deaths.

China, where the pandemic was first reported has been pushed to the 19th position in the  ranks of most affected countries, just behind Bangladesh. 

China has documented 84, 296 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, with 4, 638 deaths, while  79, 476 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged, leaving China with 182 cases, up by 67 cases in the last 24 hours but no death in the last few days.
