LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 148 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 2, 950.

A breakdown of the 148 new cases revealed that 43 new cases were found in Lagos, 32 in Kano, 14 in Zamfara, 10 in Abuja, 9 in Katsina, 7 in Taraba, 6 in Borno, 6 in Ogun, 5 in Oyo, 3 in Edo, 3 in Kaduna, 2 i Bauchi, 2 in Adamawa, 2 in Gombe, 1 in Plateau, 1 in Sokoto and 1 in Kebbi, the NCDC reported.

But out of the 2950 cases, 481 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged while 98 others are dead, the NCDC has said.

Worldwide there are currently 3, 659, 271 confirmed cases with 256, 894 deaths based on statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland. The United States currently leads the most affected nations in terms of population confirmed and the total number of deaths.

The centre reported that there are currently 1, 202, 246 confirmed cases in the US with 70, 900 deaths, followed by Spain with 219, 329 confirmed cases with 25, 613 deaths.

Next among the most affected countries is Italy with 213,013 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 29, 313 deaths followed closely by United Kingdom which now has 196, 239 confirmed cases of the pandemic with 29, 502 deaths.

The United Kingdom now has the highest number of deaths in Europe and second to the United States all over the world.
