CALIFORNIA, U.S – Former boxing Heavyweight champion, Roger Mayweather is dead. He was 58. Roger Mayweather has been ill, and the ailment impacted negatively on his health.

Prior to his death, his brother, Floyd Mayweather said his uncle who has suffered memory lose of his boxing career was looking 80 when he was just in his 50 due to the ailment.

Floyd Mayweather Jnr is losing his uncle just a week after his wife and mother of three, Josie Harris was found dead at her home in California, United States.

Roger Mayweather held the World Boxing Association(WBA) and Lineal Superfeather Weight tile from 1983 to 1984 and the WBC Lightweight Welterweight title from 1987 to 1989.

He later became boxing trainer, and helped his brother Floyd Mayweather rise to prominence.

Meanwhile, tributes have continued to pour in for the legendary boxer. Karlos Cuts described him as his favourite boxing trainer of all time.

Another boxer, The Handy Show described him as “One of the best coach that ever lived and who I look up to”.

Kamalsinghtraining described as Black Mamba.

“R.I.P Black Mamba. The boxing world mourns your passing, Roger Mayweather. One of the finest boxing trainers and corner men. The trainer of Floyd Mayweather. A two division boxing champion in the 80s- proving the adage that you cannot be a great trainer if you had not achieved greatness as a boxer. I expect St Peter at the Pearly Gates donning on his boxing gloves. #rogermayweather”, he said.
