His appointment was contained in a statement signed by Special Assistant (Media) to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Sam Nwaobasi.
Tukur resigned as chairman of the party last week.
He has been replaced with former Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Adamu Muazu.
