ABUJA, Nigeria – The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has mocked the anti-corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari, raising posers that would help Nigerians gauge the sincerity of the president in his approach to the anti-corruption war.
At a press conference, the PDP challenged the president to prove the party wrong by directing his anti-corruption fight to unearth those behind continued loothing of public funds under his watch.
The PDP wondered why President Buhari has not investigated leaked memo by Minister of State, Dr. Ibe Kachukwu on NNPC’s 9 trillion $25 billion from NNPC under direct supervision of Buhari.
The party questioned whose interest President Buhari is protecting by refusing to allow independent inquest into N1.4 trillion oil subsidy scam involving officials in the presidency, and those benefiting from the alleged 58 hidden tax per litre, since fuel price skyrocketed from N87 to N145 per litre.
The party wondered whose interest President Buhari is serving by suppressing investigation of 18 unregistered companies to lift 1.1 trillion worth of crude oil in 2017 as well as the owners of the companies. The PDP is interested in finding out if they are APC leaders, or relatives of President Muhammadu Buhari?
The PDP also wondered why the president has not beamed his anti corruption torch light on stealing of N18 billion out of N45 billion approved by National Assembly for rehabilitation of 6 northern states ravaged by insurgents in the 2017 budget.
The party also raised questions on the silence of the President on the UNDP reports indicting officials of government for misappropriation of resources met for IDPs including Babachir Lawal as well as the motion moved by Senator Baba Kaka Garba on the floor of the Senate exposing persons close to APC leaders that allegedly cornered N1.2 billion from FG under guise of IDP camps.
The PDP also questioned the President’s refusal to probe theft of N25 billion meant for NHIS in the TSA siphoned by APC agents as well as why the FG recalled and reinstated Prof Usman Yakubu, Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and why the fight has not been directed to unearth unremitted funds by the NNPC to the FAAC.
The PDP noted that birds of a feather flock together but wondered why President Buhari has retained individuals indicted for corruption in government, especially people indicted for selling state properties worth N90 billion and N40 billion out of the looted funds was allegedly diverted to APC 2015 Presidential Campaign.
