SOCHI, Russia – Today, June 30 will go down in history as the day of infamy in World cup championship being the day that two world class strikers, Lionel Messi(Argentina) and Cristiano Ronaldo crashed out of the ongoing FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia. Messi, the major striker for Argentina failed to motivate his team to move into the quarter final when his team fell 3-4 to France who has cruised into the knockout stage.

It was then the turn of Ronaldo, who equally fell to the very disciplined and well coordinated Uruguay side 2-1.

Classic striker, Calvani scored twice to push his side ahead of Portugal to qualify for the quarter finals. Uruguay will now play france in the quarter final.

Calvani put his side ahead in the encounter in the 7th minutes when he found the back of the net with his head following a long cross from the far left from Luiz Suarrez, putting half time score at 1-0. Portugal came into the second half more determined and effort of the team paid off in the 56th minutes when Pepe found the back of the net with his head.

The Portuguese who had ball possession in their favour struggled to get ahead but it was Uruguay who got the luck in the 62nd minutes when Calvani for the second time hit the net with a classic header, sealing the hope for hard fighting Portuguese side in this thriller and classic encounter.

Portugal won the game through a well coordinated team play.
