LAGOS BEGINS SALES OF LAKE RICE AHEAD OF EASTER
IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – As part of its commitment to boost food security in Lagos State, the State Government through the Ministry of Agriculture has announced plan to commence the sales of lake rice at all designated sales centres in preparation for the forthcoming Easter celebration. The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Oluwatoyin Suarau stated that Lake Rice will be available for sales in all designated centres from Thursday, 29th of March 2018.
He added that residents can get the product from the following designated centres; Farm Service Centre, Odogunyan, Ikorodu; Lagos State Agric Input Supply Authority (LAISA), Ojo; Agricultural Development Authority (ADA), Oko Oba, Agege; Farm Service Centre, Temu Epe and Lagos Television (LTV), Agidingbi .
Suarau noted that the need to ensure that Lake Rice circulate into the nooks and crannies of the state is key in the State government’s drive to attain food sufficiency stressing that food production and self-sufficiency have been given priority attention at State’s policy and strategic levels.
He assured that the state government will ensure the continuous availability of LAKE Rice in already established designated sales centres, major markets in Lagos, shopping malls and supermarkets who are in partnership with the State government and work assiduously to ensure adequate supply all over the state.
Suarau stressed further that the price of the rice has not changed from N12,000, N6,000 and N2,500 for 50kg, 25kg and 10kg respectively adding that the government will continue to maintain the price of the product so as to make it affordable to all as the essence of the partnership is to ensure food security and showcase the ability of Nigeria to become a producing nation.
He disclosed that logistics have been put in place to ensure smooth sales of the product. He however assured that the processes of distribution and purchase of LAKE Rice have been made very easy for everyone.
