DAAR COMMUNICATIONS(AIT, RAYPOWER) SACKS OVER 300 EMPLOYEES
ABUJA, Nigeria – Daar Communications, owners of Raypower and African Independent Television, (AIT) has sacked over 300 staff, about 40 percent of total employees of the organisation.
The sack, we gathered is part of ongoing effort to reposition the organisation which is quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange(NSE) but has not been able to pay any dividend to stockholders since it was quoted on the NSE. We gathered that the sack is ongoing and that the aim of the management of Daar Communications is to sack 70 percent of total staff in the company.
According to a dependable source, the sack letters were loaded in a Ghana Must Go bag and sent to Lagos after they were signed with the red ink of the Chairman, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi.
We gathered that the chairman traveled out of the country after delivering the package to Lagos to aviod being reached by friends and associates who will want to persuade him to change his mind.
Daar Communications is owing salaries ranging from five months to 13 months and there about. We were told that those sacked were not presented with pay-off cheques and that some former staff have vowed to go to court to get their salaries and emoluments.
