LONDON – Two men responsible for a string of burglaries in which specialises in stealing high value performance cars were today jailed at Kingston Crown Court.

Nathan Dale, 30 of St Georges Court, Melford Road E6 and Jordan McKenzie-Pryce, 31, of Leverson Street, SW16, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit residential burglary and handling stolen goods and were sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment each. Detective sergeant Damian Hill, from the London Crime Squad, said:

“Dale and McKenzie-Pryce were prolific burglars, creeping into homes across south-east London while the occupants were asleep to steal expensive and powerful vehicles.

“They caused a great deal of distress and inconvenience to their victims and I am pleased they have been imprisoned.”

In April 2016 the London Crime Squad, with help from Merton Crime Squad, set up Operation Chavanel in response to a linked series of burglaries across Merton, Kingston, Sutton and Wandsworth as well in the Surrey Police area.

Affluent premises were targeted and broken into, often at night while the homeowners were sleeping, and property stolen including car keys. The thieves would then make off in the victims’ cars which included BMWs, Audis and Porsches.

The cars’ registration plates would be replaced with false ones to avoid the vehicles being identified and recovered.

Following extensive enquiries, detectives identified Dale and McKenzie-Pryce as suspects and they were seen driving stolen cars on false registration plates.

On 2 August officers attended St Georges Court. McKenzie-Pryce was arrested while Dale fled to an adjacent block of flats. After five hours he tried to make a break for it and was also detained. Three high-powered stolen motorbikes on false plates were also recovered at the address.

Dale and McKenzie-Pryce were subsequently charged and remanded in custody.

They pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit 26 residential burglaries between 25 August 2015 and 2 August 2016 and handling the stolen motorbikes.
