London – A man, Abdul Hamid, 31 has been convicted at the Old Bailey of disseminating a video produced by ISIS.

Hamid, 31, of Barking, London has on, Monday 14 November, pleaded guilty to disseminating a terrorist publication on 13 December 2015 intending to encourage acts of terrorism. The ‘publication’ was a video produced by ISIS.

Following an investigation into online posts on social media of terrorist publications, Hamid was arrested at his home address on the morning of 18 February 2016 by officers from the SO15 Counter Terrorism Command.


His home was searched and a number of items were seized for examination; including mobile phones and laptops.
Investigations established that he had posted an ISIS video on his Facebook page on 13 December 2015. On 11 May 2016, he attended a central London police station where he was charged as above.

Commander Dean Haydon of the MPS Counter Terrorism Command [SO15] said:

“We cannot underestimate the dangerous nature of the propaganda produced by ISIS and the influence it can have on the vulnerable; which is why it is so important to hold to account those who share with others these social media posts.”
Hamid has been released on court bail to appear on 9 December for sentencing at the Old Bailey.
