Nigeria, April 15, 2016 – Lagos State Government, through the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, has concluded arrangement to disburse N50 million to 3,047 pilgrims embarking on the 2016 Hajj with effect from Monday, 18th April 15, 2016.
2016 HAJJ: LAGOS TO DISBURSE N50M TO 3,047 PILGRIMS
The exercise will take place by 10 am at Hajj office, 22/23 Oba Akinjobi Way, Old Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos. But the disbursement will be preceded with sensitization and enlightenment programmes for intending Hajj pilgrims on Saturday, 16th April, 2016.
Executive Secretary of the Board, Mr. Muftau Okoya stated this in his office while speaking on the latest development in regards to the Y2016 Hajj, adding that part of the programmes include a lecture which is scheduled to come up on Saturdays and Sundays between 2p.m. and 5p.m. till middle of July.
He explained that the enlightenment programmes are designed to teach the pilgrims basic tenet of Islam, expectations and rights of Hajj, right attitude and conventional practices during the Y2016 Hajj operation.
According to him, the programmes have been structured to take place simultaneously in 18 Local Government Areas, divided into three Zones. Each Zone comprises Six LGAs with three Zonal Supervisors, 18 Coordinators and 18 Assistant Coordinators.
He enjoined all appointed staff to be diligent and efficient in the discharge of their assigned duties and responsibilities, adding that their duties are limited to ground activities.
While urging intending pilgrims to seek for more details at the Public Affairs Unit of the board at the Old Secretariat, Ikeja, Okoya disclosed that the board can also accommodate intending pilgrims for Y2016 Ramadan Umrah.
