LAGOS HITS STREET TRADERS, MISCREANTS, ARREST 60
October 22, 2015 – Not less than 60 people have been arrested by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit for trading on road setbacks and for harassing and intimidating innocent Nigerians.
While addressing journalists during a joint operation in Lagos, Chairman of the taskforce Mr. Olubukola Abe said they were arrested at Iyana-Oworo, Ogudu, Alapere, Ojodu-Berger and Pen-cinema in Agege.
While affirming that the miscreants and street traders arrested would soon be charged to courts, he warned that any security personnel caught disobeying traffic laws will be arrested and prosecuted since nobody is above the law.
The chairman explained that most security personnel using private cars, buses and motorcycles, either for official assignment or commercial activities usually contravene the State Traffic Law by either picking or dropping passengers at undesignated bus stops which eventually affect free flow of vehicular movement on the roads.
