THE Kremlin has sensationally claimed a “British trace” has been found in the bloody attempt to assassinate a top Russian General.
Russian spy boss Alexander Bortnikov today accused the UK and other Western powers of being the “supervisors” behind the hit on Lt. Gen. Vladimir Alekseyev.
The FSB Director claimed that while Ukrainian special services pulled the trigger, the plan was cooked up by “3rd countries” lurking in the shadows.
General Alekseyev—the hardman deputy chief of the GRU—was left fighting for his life after being gunned down in a Moscow apartment block earlier this month.
The 64-year-old, who survived the ambush despite being shot several times by a gunman reportedly disguised as a food delivery driver, is a notorious figure in the West.
He has long been linked by British intelligence to the 2018 Salisbury Novichok poisonings and was a key player in managing the Wagner mercenary group.
Speaking to reporters, FSB chief Bortnikov didn’t hold back, pointing the finger directly at London.
He barked:
”The instigators were Ukraine’s special services. And behind them are 3rd countries. Ukraine operates under the supervision of Western special services.”
Russian investigators now claim to have “British traces” linking the hit to MI6, though they haven’t produced a shred of hard evidence to back it up.
The dramatic claims follow the arrest of a suspect in Dubai, identified as Lyubomir Korba, who has since been extradited back to Russia.
Moscow claims Korba confessed to being recruited by Kyiv and paid in cryptocurrency to take out the General.
