FRENCH PRESIDENT EMMANUEL MACRON has issued a chilling “doomsday” warning, claiming Europe could be “swept away” within just five years unless leaders get a grip.
In a blistering assessment of the continent’s future, the French President warned that the days of playing “nice” with global superpowers are over.
He suggested that relying on the United Kingdom’s allies across the pond might be a gamble Europe can’t afford to take, hinting that the U.S. might not be the shield it once was.
Speaking to Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger, a fired-up Macron didn’t mince his words: “Europe will be swept away in five years if we do nothing.”
‘Happy Submission’
The President slammed the current “spectator” mentality of European nations, warns that “being nice” to the Americans and carrying on “as before” with the Chinese is a one-way ticket to irrelevance.
He described this path as “happy submission”—a state where Europe stops bothering anyone but loses its soul and its power in the process.
”You don’t know how far the Americans are willing to go,” Macron added, suggesting that Europe needs to stand on its own two feet rather than waiting to see which way the wind blows in Washington.
This isn’t just French flair; it’s a calculated move.
The Trump Factor: With the potential for a shift in U.S. foreign policy, Macron is terrified that the “Special Relationship” and NATO protections could evaporate, leaving Europe exposed.
The China Squeeze: Europe is currently caught in a trade war between Washington and Beijing. Macron believes if Europe doesn’t create its own “Third Way,” it will simply be eaten alive by the two giants.
Strategic Autonomy: This has been Macron’s pet project for years. He wants a European military and a unified economic front so the continent can “bother” people again, rather than just being a playground for tourists and foreign tech firms.
While the French President is known for his grand speeches, this latest outburst shows a man who knows the clock is ticking.
Whether the rest of Europe is ready to stop being “spectators” remains to be seen.
