Baimolda claimed self-defence after frenzied attack on pal Oleg Sloboda but forensic experts proved he was lying

LONDON – A COLD-HEARTED killer has been jailed for life after he stabbed a man 16 times in a brutal and “senseless” attack in the victim’s own home.
Beibit Baimolda, 34, was caged for a minimum of 18 years yesterday for the murder of 42-year-old Oleg Sloboda in Walthamstow.
Oleg, described by police as leaving behind a son, sister, and mother, was found slumped on his bedroom floor with horrifying slash and stab wounds to his face and torso.
The frenzied attack took place at Oleg’s home in Cranston Gardens, Chingford, after the pair had spent the day together socialising, including a trip to a local pub.
But as the night wore on, Baimolda, who has no fixed address, suddenly launched a savage assault on his drinking buddy.
Cops were called to reports of a disturbance at around 9pm on Monday, May 6, 2024.
Despite the brave efforts of first-on-scene officers and the London Ambulance Service, Oleg tragically died where he lay.
A knife was recovered near his body.
Baimolda claimed throughout the investigation that he acted in self-defence during the shocking incident. But his flimsy excuse was torn to shreds by specialist forensic work.
Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command used blood pattern analysis to dismantle the killer’s lies.
Their work revealed that the assault took place entirely within close proximity to where Oleg was found, showing “no evidence of a prolonged altercation.”
The key forensic evidence directly undermined Baimolda’s bogus assertion that he had been attacked by the victim.
Justice for Oleg
After a trial at Inner London Crown Court, a jury unanimously convicted the thug of murder.
Sentencing him yesterday, His Honour Judge Kelleher praised the quick-thinking officers who first attended the terrifying scene.
Detective Inspector Luke Hampton, who led the investigation, said his thoughts remained with Oleg’s heartbroken family.
He said: “Oleg leaves behind his son, sister and mother – our thoughts remain with them as they continue to come to terms with their loss.
“This was a brutal and senseless attack on a man in his own home.
Yesterday’s sentence reflects the gravity of Baimolda’s actions and the devastating impact they have had. It is our hope that the sentence provides a sense of justice for Oleg’s family.”
