TEHRAN – “We not in a state of peace. We are still in a state of war with Israel”, Former Commander in Chief of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, IRGC, and Military Advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Major General Rahim Safavi has said.
Safavi who was speaking on the 12 day war with Israel said no document exists between Iran and Israel stipulating a ceasefire neither does such document exists between us and the United States.
According to him, the current situation remains very volatile.
“We only agreed to a temporary cessation of hostilities because Israel initiated it”, he said adding that the situation could collapse at any time or Iran may decide to resume operation if it is needed.
Projecting into the future, he said it is likely that the war will resume.
“We have prepared for the worst case scenario”, he said adding that those who want peace must be prepared for war and that the best form of defense is offense.
