Reps Committee on Nutrition and Food Security ranked top performer in 10th house evaluation

ABUJA, Nigeria – The House of Representatives Committee on Nutrition and Food Security, chaired by Hon. Chike John Okafor, Ph.D., has been recognized as one of the top-performing committees in the 10th House of Representatives. 

According to the First Session Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Report, the committee secured an impressive 5th position among the top 10 standing committees.

The announcement was made on Thursday, December 5, 2024, in a notification signed by Hon. Obinna Aguocha, Chairman of the House Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation of All Standing and Ad-Hoc Committees.

The official presentation of the M&E Report, along with an award ceremony for the top-performing committees, is scheduled for Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the National Assembly Library and Resource Centre, Abuja.

Since its inauguration on February 29, 2024, the Nutrition and Food Security Committee has consistently delivered on its legislative mandate, earning high marks in the Productivity Index Matrices used for the evaluation.

These indices measure legislative efficiency and effectiveness in carrying out assigned responsibilities. Under Hon. Okafor’s leadership, the committee has been at the forefront of efforts to strengthen policies on nutrition and food security, playing a crucial role in advancing sustainable food systems and national development.

Hon. Obinna Aguocha, in his remarks, commended the committee for its exceptional performance and encouraged its members to sustain their commitment to excellence.  He noted that their success sets a benchmark for other committees to emulate in delivering on legislative mandates.

The award ceremony is expected to attract lawmakers, dignitaries, and key stakeholders in Nigeria’s legislative landscape.
