December 31, 2014 – The Nigerian Army today said that over 200 soldiers have been court marshaled in the last one month and that some of them have been sentenced to death.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja, Spokesman for the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Olajide Laleye said that confidence and zeal to wage ongoing war against Boko Haram has been rekindled.
He added that discipline has been restored adding that current successes is due to strict enforcement of service regulations.
He explained why it has not been able to liberate some communities still under control of the radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram in the North-east.
According to him, the army is taking its time in executing strategies to reclaim the territories to avoid needless civilian casualties during the operation.
