AMMAN, Jordan – Jordan has called on members of the United Nations Security Council, UNSC to throw their weight behind a pending resolution calling for immediate ceasefire during Ramadan and delivery of humanitarian aid into the war ravaged Gaza Strip.
The Jordanian Foreign Minister, Aryman Safadi made the call in Amman, during a joint press conference with the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres as part of his trip to the Gulf during the Ramadan fast.
He said that though Israel has a history of ignoring UNSC resolutions, voting in support of the resolution will send a strong message to Israel that enough is enough, “enough of war crimes, enough of genocide and enough of violating international law”, he said and urged the world not to turn their back on UNRWA.
UNRWA is the oldest UN humanitarian agency in the Palestine, with unrivaled coverage in the Middle East, delivering aid including schools to the region.
“We cannot allow them to continue to kill with impunity”, he said, adding that Israel is being led by radical racists minister dragging the entire region into chaos. He said they must be held accountable, adding that and that the only way to end the conflict in Gaza is a two state solution.
