Anambra Government, led by Professor Charles Soludo is developing sales point for displaced traders across Anambra State

AWKA, Nigeria – Anambra State Government has concluded plans to develop cluster sales points within Awka capital to accommodate displaced street traders.

Head of Development Control, Awka Capital Territory Development Agency, ACTDA,Mr Charles Ekwunife stated this on Thursday in Awka when he led a team to sensitize members of the public on government policies towards making Awka a mega city.

He said to achieve this , government has designated various temporary locations for the traders so that they will not be causing obstruction in major roads across the capital city.
According to him, the temporary locations will assist the traders to continue with their businesses pending the completion of the sales points.

He said , when the traders move into the designated places, it would be much cheaper and safer for them rather than displaying their goods and wares along the streets in Awka.
Ekwunife stated that inline with the Governor Soludo’s idea of creating a liveable and prosperous Homeland, the Awka Capital Territory Development Agency( ACTDA), has underscores the importance to enhance beauty of the environment.

According to Ekwunife all shop and business owners within the state capital will immediately use yellow Aluco board with black write ups as signposts in other to give the capital city a desirable outlook.

He said the aim of the state government was to have an organised uniformed city outlook as every shop is expected to give a distance of four foot from the drainage channels across the state

He further said that people are allowed to have a canopy in front of their shops but such must not be extended more than four feet from the building. He also appealed to the people to cooperate with the present administration to ensure that Awka is raised to a status befitting status of a state capital as the enforcement will be a continuous exercise.

The ACTDA Head of Development Control noted that the present administration has also decided that containers are no longer allowed along the major streets across the state capital. .
