KADUNA, Nigeria – Many local residents have been killed in Tudun Biri village, Igabi Local Government Area in Kaduna State, Northern Nigeria, following what has been described as accidental bombing by the Nigerian Army.
An aircraft, belonging to the Nigerian Army on routine onslaught on terrorists bombed the village resulting in numerous casualties among residents who had gathered for a Maulud celebration around 9 pm on Sunday.
The Kaduna state government has acknowledged receiving information from security forces regarding the incident and expressed concern over the unknown number of citizens who lost their lives and sustained injuries.
During a meeting chaired by Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe, attended by security heads, religious figures, and local leaders, the Nigerian Army clarified the unintended nature of the attack.
Major General VU Okoro, the General Officer Commanding One Division of the Nigerian Army in Kaduna, explained that the military was conducting a routine mission against terrorists when their operations inadvertently impacted the community, resulting in collateral damage.
