    LAGOS, Nigeria – Popular actor, known for his comedy on the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, Alhaji Usman Baba Patigi better known as Samanja is dead. He was 84 years.

    He died yesterday. Speaking on his demise, Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima said he is deeply saddened by the demise of the actor.

    “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Alhaji Usman Baba Patigi, fondly known as Samanja.

    “His presence on TV and radio brought joy and laughter to various generations of Nigerians”, he said.

    According to him, the actor brought smiles to people with his skills.

    “Through humour and sincerity, he explored our diversity and mirrored our society to remind us of our shared values and humanity.

    “Like millions of other Nigerians, I am grateful for the enduring memory he created and the legacy he left behind after decades of contributions to arts and society,”, he said.

    He described Samanja as a pan-Nigerian ambassador and patriot extraordinaire.

    ” May Allah repose his soul and grant his loved ones the strength to bear this loss”, he said.

    Samanja was born 20 May 1942 and he died on Sunday 12 November 2023.
