Spain beats Sweden to move into finals in FIFA WWC

BRAZIL – Spain has qualified for the final at the ongoing FIFA Women World Cup after beating Sweden 2-1 at the 43, 217 capacity stadium at Eden Park to move into the final. 

But it was a tension soaked encounter with both teams showing the stuff they are made of, ending the first half on goalless draw.

Both teams came into the second half very determined, but the opportunity did not come until the 81st minutes when Paralluelo found the back of the Swedish net to put his side ahead.

Blomqvist made it 1-1  seven minutes later in the 88 minutes after connecting a pass from Hurtig.

But two minutes later, the Spanish women  team struck again, this time through Carmona, who connected a pass from Abelleira to put her side once more in the lead at exactly 90 minutes of play.

Spain, which had control of the game 59 percent against 41 percent by  Sweden held on to the goal line until full time.

Sweden had 3 shots at goal against 2 by Spain, which also had 7 shots off  target and 4 blocked, while Sweden had just two shots off target.
