Eaglets move into quarter finals at Algeria 2023
CONSTATINE – The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria today took the bull by the horn in their encounter with the South African lads in Constatine, beating their opponents 3-2 to move into the Quarter Final stage at the ongoing soccer fiesta, tagged Algeria 2023.
The Eaglets, coached by Nduka Ugbade that looked so unsure after their wobbling encounter with Morocco came in this time very determined to move into the last eight.
The coach of the team also deserve some commendation, making the desired changes in the line up, replacing Precious Williams and Faviour Daniel with Light Eke and Charles Agada, who made the great difference in the that thrilling encounter.
The changes appeared to be very decisive and it gave the Eaglets the desired edge over their rivals.
However, South Africa looked very good to carry the day at the early stage, following their goal lead 30 minutes into the first half. But Nigeria came in, equalizing through Charles Agada 5 minutes later.
South Africa went ahead once more in the 45 minutes just before half time, putting the score line at 2-1 in their favour.
Nigeria came into the second half with a goal deficit but mustered all the strength resulting in the equalizer through Light Ekeh after a brilliant run by Agada.
Abdullahi made it 2-3 in favour of Nigeria in the 62nd minutes. The determined Eaglets put in more pressure for a consolidating goal which never came but they succeeded in holding on to the goal margin till end of the game.
