Petrol souvenir: Court convicts society lady, Ogbulu Chidinma Pearl

LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos socialite, Ms. Ogbulu Chindinma Pearl, who offered guest at her party petrol souvenir was on Thursday convicted and sentenced by Chief Magistrate Kehinde Ogundare of the Special Offences (Mobile) Court sitting at Oshodi.
Chidinma Pearl was earlier arraigned on the 14th of March, 2022 for distributing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) as souvenir during her installation party on the 5th of March, 2022 at Havillah Event Centre, Lagos, contrary to section 251(1), 168 (1), 244 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 and Section 195 (2)(b) of the Environmental Management Protection Law of Lagos State 2017.
She was sentence a fine of N15000 or 3 months imprisonment on the first count and a fine of N500 000 or one year imprisonment for the second count.
Chidinma Pearl was in addition sentenced to a fine of N500, 000 or one year imprisonment on the third count.
During the hearing of the suit on 24th March, 2022, the defendant changed her plea and pleaded guilty to 1st count, 2nd Count and 3rd count.
Chief Magistrate, Kehinde Ogundare, held that the prosecution successfully proved the charge against the defendant beyond a reasonable doubt and thereby convicted and sentenced her accordingly.
