YAOUNDE, Cameroun – It was one of the best day for the home team, Cameroun when it deflated, Comoros which has emerged as a giant killer at the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON.
In front a very excited spectators, Cameroun proved the stuff they are made of when it deflated the ego of Comoros, beating them by 2 – 1.
Cameroun took the lead in the 29th minutes when Karl Toko Ekambi found the back of the net, putting his team in the lead by 1-0. The team maintained the score line until end of the first half.
Comoros came into the second half more determined to equalize but it was Cameroun that got lucky in the 70th minutes, when Vincent Aboubakar extended the lead by 2-0 at the 60, 000 capacity Olembe Stadium in Yaounde.
Comoros pulled one back in the 81 minutes when Youssouf M’Changama puts the ball in the net and reduced the tally, bringing the scoreline to 2-1.
In terms of statistics, Cameroun dominated the encounter securing 61 percent ball possession against 39 by the Comoros team. Shots on target, Cameroun had 5 against 6 by Comoros. However, Cameroun had 6 corner kicks while Comoros had just 1.
