    Europe, US still hot spots for COVID19 as 2, 196 die in US

    LAGOS – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed 856 new cases of Coronavirus pandemic in the country, bringing all time cases to 245, 404.

    But out of the 245, 404 confirmed cases,  217, 247 patients have been treated and discharged, while 3, 058 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 25, 099 active cases of Coronavirus, while 5 patients died in the last 24 hours.

    “NCDC:  856 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria: Lagos – 337, Kaduna – 152,  FCT – 87,  Gombe – 47,  Delta -43, Kano – 31,  Kwara -27, Enugu – 26, Nasarawa -19, Niger -15, Oyo – 11, Rivers – 11,  Benue – 9,  Bauchi – 8,  Ogun – 8, Borno -7, Ekiti -6,  Edo -5,  Plateau -4, Bayelsa -3;  245,404 confirmed; 217, 247 discharged;  3,058 deaths”, the NCDC has announced.

    There are now 297, 048, 673  confirmed cases of Coronavirus pandemic worldwide,  5,463,317 patients have given up the ghost, while 9, 278, 134,958 doses of Coronavirus vaccines have been administered worldwide based on the latest statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.

    According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted country, reporting 57,435,370 confirmed cases of Coronavirus pandemic, while 831,287 patients have passed on(737, 983 new and 2, 196 deaths#), followed by India, which has documented 35,018, 358 total cases of infections, while 482, 551 patients have passed on(58, 097 new and 534 deaths#) and Brazil, which has reported 22, 328,252 confirmations, while 619, 654 other patients could not make it alive(19, 171 new and 181 deaths#) .

    The United Kingdom remains the 4th country most hit, reporting 13, 917, 699 total cases and 149, 760 deaths  (197, 989 new and 345 deaths#), followed by  France, which has reported 11, 017, 741 total infections, 125,787 deaths(322, 937 new and 236 deaths#) and Russia, which had reported 10, 405, 684  total cases of infections, while 306, 710 patients have perished(15, 632 new and 804 deaths#).

    Turkey is the 7th country most afflicted, reporting 9, 720, 831 all time infections and 83, 075 deaths(121, 191 new and 280 deaths#), followed by Germany which has registered 7, 342,117 total cases, while 113,155 patients have passed on(63, 080 new and 448 deaths#) and Spain with 6, 922, 466 total cases, while 89, 837 patients are no more(137, 180 new and 148 deaths#).

    Italy remains the 10th country most afflicted, reporting 6, 756, 035 infected cases of Coronavirus and 138, 276 deaths and South Africa the most afflicted country in Africa , reporting 3, 494, 696 all time cases, while 91, 561 lives have perished as a result of the pandemic(11, 106 new and 110 deaths#).
