CAPE TOWN – Late Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa will be buried on Saturday, January 01, 2022.  This is based on the funeral ceremony released by the Desmond Tutu Foundation in Cape Town, South Africa.

According to the Foundation, the bells of the St George’s Cathedral in the Cape Town CBD will ring for 10 minutes at midday from Monday to Friday and that anyone who is able to hear the bells should take a moment to reflect on the Tutu’s life.

It added that the South African Council of Churches (SACC) will hold a memorial service in Pretoria on Wednesday. “On Thursday evening, there will be an intimate evening with the friends of the Arch and his wife, Leah. “The Arch will then lay in state on Friday in the St George’s Cathedral. The Archbishop of Cape Town, Thabo Makgoba, will lead the funeral service on Saturday”, the Foundation said.

Meanwhile, the South African flag is to fly at half mast in public places and some buildings to be lit for one week in Cape Town in honour of the  late legend of the struggle against apartheid South Africa.
