IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Not less than three people, two males and a female have suffered severe burns when a gas cylinder exploded in their apartment.

Those affected in the incident at No 12 Kunle Iyamolere Street, Ogudu Ori Oke are currently recuperating at the Gbagada General Hospital and LASUTH respectively.

“No loss of life, however the inferno affected the kitchen and living room, while 3 adults (2 male and a female) suffered serious burns”, LASEMA said in a statement.

Speaking on the incident, General Manager LASEMA Mr Adesina Tiamiyu advised Lagosian to ensure that Gas cylinders are kept outside the building premises and to always be more careful when trying to ignite a gas cooker to avoid unfortunate incident such as this. He however said that proper investigation would be conducted on the incident.

He said his agency received distress call via the emergency toll free line at about 6.20pm concerning a fire incident at No 12 Kunle Iyamolere Street, Ogudu Ori Oke, on the 18th of September, 2017.

“This prompted the immediate activation of the Agency’s Emergency Response Team to the scene of the incident”, he said.
