LAGOS, Nigeria – Not less than three people have been confirmed dead in Lagos when a truck crashed into an overhead sign board at Ilasamaja, Lagos. According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the agency received a distress call via the Emergency toll free line 112/767 on Wednesday 4th of April, 2018 at about 8.26 am.

“This eased up the rapid activation of the Agency’s Response Team to the scene of incident.Preliminary investigation carried out by the LASEMA Response Team at the scene of the incident revealed that an empty lorry truck (iveco) with registration number MEK 695 XA hit an overhead sign post which subsequently fell on a commercial Coaster Bus coming from behind”, the agency said.
Those dead are three male adults, while four females were injured in the incident.
“Unfortunately, 7 victims (4 adult female and 3 adult male) with severe injuries were rescued and stabilized by the Agency’s officials and LASAMBUS and subsequently transfer to Mushin General Hospital for further treatment, while 3 adult male lost their lives and were later handed over to officials of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) to be tranfer to the the mortuary”, the agency said.
The LASEMA Response Team, Nigeria Police Force (Cele and Itire Station ) LASAMBUS, LNSC, LRU Paramedics were responders at the scene.
Speaking on the incident, General Manager LASEMA Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu urged motorist to ensure they drive within the approved speed limit, and also watch out for road signs and other impediments to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.
