GAZA, Palestine – The Israeli Defence Forces, IDF has confirmed killing Muhammed Awad a senior commander in the Islamic Resistant Movement, Hamas.
In a statement, the IDF said it also killed another Hamas fighter, Ahmed Abed Khudari.
The IDF said Awad was one of those who
infiltrated Nir Oz and oversaw the abductions of Shiri, Kfir, and Ariel Bibas and was most likely involved in their murders.
“Mohammed Awad was also responsible for the abductions and burial of Gad and Judi Lynn Weinstein and of Thai citizens”, the IDF said
adding that he was a senior commander in the Military Intelligence Array in the Gaza Strip, affiliated with senior commanders of the Palestinian Mujahideen terrorist organization.
“On October 7th, Mohammed Awad infiltrated the Israeli community of Nir Oz several times. He was one of the leaders of the massacre, and was likely personally involved in the abductions and brutal murders of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas.
“He was also involved in the abduction and burial of Gad and Judi Lynn Weinstein. Moreover, he took part in the abductions of Thai citizens.
“As part of his role in the terrorist organization, Mohammad Awad was actively involved until his death in recruiting terror operatives in Judea and Samaria and within Israel, through whom he used to plan and carry out attacks against Israelis.
“During the war, the Palestinian Mujahideen terrorist organization and Mohammed Awad in particular were involved in the execution of terrorist attacks against the State of Israel and IDF troops operating in the Gaza Strip.
He said the IDF and ISA will continue to operate to locate and eliminate all of the terrorists from different terrorist organizations who took part in the murderous October 7th massacre.
As for Khudari, the IDF said he was a key terror financing facilitator within Hamas.
“During his role as a money exchanger, Khudari was the head of the ‘Al Wefaq Co.’ fund, which was declared a terrorist organization by the Israeli Minister of Defense due to its involvement in the funneling of money to terrorist entities.
“Over the years, and specifically since the October 7 massacre, Khudari was involved in numerous financial transfers to Hamas’ military wing. His involvement increased following the elimination of his brother Hamed Khudari, who had also served as as a primary financial conduit for Hamas’ military operations”, the IDF said, noting that the elimination of Khudari constitutes a significant blow to Hamas’ ability to rearm and reestablish itself.
