AWKA, Anambra – The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, has stated that native doctors are deceiving and misleading young people with promises of supernatural protection for illegal activities, including drug trafficking, cyber fraud (Yahoo Yahoo), and kidnapping.

The governor, who spoke in Awka, Anambra State, said that the native doctors have caused significant harm to the youth by misleading them into believing that, with the help of juju, they can engage in illegal activities to make money, including transporting drugs and passing security checkpoints without detection.

According to him, thousands of Nigerian youths are languishing in foreign prisons due to the lies and influence of these native doctors.

“They make Oke-ite for these youths, assuring them that they could pass security checkpoints undetected with hard drugs. But once they are caught, they end up in jail. When that failed, they turned to cyber fraud, and when that too failed, they became kidnappers in search of easy and quick money. This cannot happen again in Anambra State,” he added.

Soludo also disclosed that currently, over 30 suspected native doctors and pastors are under investigation as part of the state government’s efforts to sanitize and restore law and order in the state.

He further revealed that since the crackdown, many native doctors have fled the state, while those who relied on their concoctions fear their charms might become ineffective due to the detention of their makers.

The governor also announced that his administration has confiscated many ‘Oke-ite’ pots and they will be subjected to forensic analysis. If traces of human blood are found, the owners will face severe consequences.

“Many Oke-ite are now in our custody, and the only thing that can save their owners is if forensic tests show no traces of human blood,” Soludo stated.

The governor also reaffirmed his commitment to sanitizing Anambra State, emphasizing that security has significantly improved in areas previously controlled by non-state actors.

Soludo revealed that his administration’s “One Youth, Two Skills” initiative has produced over 1,000 millionaires in the state through legitimate means.

“My vision is to give Ndi-Anambra focused and qualitative governance and to create an enabling environment for public-private sector partnerships, which are fundamental to the creation of enduring economic development and individual prosperity for the people of the state.

“My mission is to improve citizens’ confidence and trust in government through transparent and accountable leadership. I aim to improve the development of human capital through greater investment in qualitative education, with a focus on the ongoing One Youth, Two Skills acquisition programme, which has produced about 1,000 millionaires within a span of two years and eleven months of my administration, as well as entrepreneurship programmes for women and the elderly through my wife’s initiative, ‘Healthy Living Initiative with Nonye Soludo,'” he stated.

He also emphasized that his dream is to make Anambra State a destination point where people will love to live and do legal business.

He urged everyone living in Anambra, irrespective of tribe, ethnicity, and religious background, to work together to make the state a hub for commercial and industrial development.
