AWKA, Anambra – Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, has advised opposition parties in the state to collectively adopt Prof. Charles Soludo for the November 8, 2025, election, instead of wasting their money contesting against him.
The commissioner gave this advice on Friday when the Anambra Deserves Soludo Solution team, led by Dr. Jude Emecheta, visited him in his office at the Jerome Udeorji Secretariat in Awka.
Dr. Mefor stated that anyone who claims that Anambra does not deserve Soludo should step forward and tell the people of Anambra who they believe is deserving of the position.
“I urge the opposition parties to come together and adopt Prof. Charles Soludo as the sole candidate for the forthcoming governorship election. Although it is the constitutional right of every individual to contest for the governorship of the state, it would be a waste of resources because there is no vacant position in Agu Awka. The governor has done well, and Anambra deserves him,” he said.
He further emphasized that Anambra deserves Soludo, noting that leaders like him come once in a while.
“He has offered prudent management of the resources of Ndi Anambra,” he added.
Dr. Mefor also pointed out that Soludo is the only governor in Nigeria whose capital expenditure exceeds that of his recurrent expenditures.
“The governor spends over 70 percent on capital projects and 30 percent on recurrent expenditures. He has built many legacy projects in the state without borrowing a kobo. This is a mark of judicious management of resources,” he explained.
He advised those aspiring to contest against Soludo to instead use their resources to develop their various communities, rather than engage in a fruitless exercise.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Dr. Jude Emecheta, introduced the group and explained that they were in the commissioner’s office to brief him on their activities.
According to Dr. Emecheta, the group is embarking on a tour of Soludo’s projects across the state to inform Ndi Anambra about the governor’s developmental strides.
He also appealed to the commissioner to regularly provide them with updates on news regarding the governor’s projects.
