GAZA, Palestine – The Government Media Office in Palestine has published statistics of journalists killed, arrested and wounded in Gaza since October 7, 2023, when the Israeli Defence Forces, IDF launched the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
According to the Gaza Media Office, a total of 208 journalists have been killed by Israel in quest of attacking Hamas for launching the October 7 attack on Israel.
The media office said 400 other journalists were wounded and some now maimed for life while 48 others have been arrested and detained.
The Gaza Media Office published the list and their faces to mark the anniversary of Palestinian Press Martyrs Day.
“As we mark the second anniversary of Palestinian Press Martyrs’ Day during the genocide carried out by the “israeli” occupation army against our great Palestinian people—especially against civilians, children, and women—we must acknowledge the profound sacrifices of the Palestinian journalist corps”, the office said.
It added that this genocide has targeted all segments of civil society and vital sectors in the Gaza Strip, including journalists and media professionals.
” The occupation has sought to destroy the entire media sector and its institutions.
“Until the publication of this report, the “israeli” occupation has killed 208 journalists, wounded 400 others, and arrested 48 journalists and media professionals”, the office noted
It said the occupation aims through this to intimidate journalists and media workers, to prevent them from delivering their noble message, to silence their voices, and to suppress their truths in an attempt to conceal the reality and erase the Palestinian narrative.
“But the occupation has lost the battle. Its propaganda collapsed before the world, and the truthful Palestinian narrative prevailed and was widely echoed around the globe, thanks to the tremendous efforts of journalists and media professionals who conveyed the truth and the voices of the victims, exposing the crimes and suffering of their people”.
