IKEJA, LAGOS, Nigeria – Looking very fresh and healthy, the notorious kidnapper, Mr. Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike alias Evans who has spent over five years in prison has applied to the Lagos State Government for plea bargain.
His lawyer, Emefor Etudor made the revelation during the re-arraignment of Evans before Justice Adenike Coker of the Lagos State High Court.
Evans who was in jail before his initial arraignment in August 20th, 2017 entered a ‘Not Guilty’ plea to the five count charge brought before him by the Lagos State Government.
Evans was re-arraigned with Joseph Ikenna Emeka on five count charge of murder, attempt to murder, conspiracy to commit a felony and attempt to kidnap.
Emefor Etudor informed the court he was in court to ask for a new date since Evans has applied to the Lagos State Government for plea bargain being a changed personality.
According to Evans is now born again and attends The Redeemed Christian Church of God.
He said Evans is now very remorse and now on Federal Scholarship having been given a second chance by the federal government.
Etudor said the matter is now before the Lagos State Committee on Plea bargain.
He also described Evans as an intelligent man that should be given a second chance by Lagos State and would serve the state for life by helping to preach against crime to reform the youths.
He enumerated some of the training Evans has gone through in prison, coming out in flying colours.
According to him, Evans has been admitted into National Open University,NOA to study B.Sc in Political Science. He is in 200 Level on Federal Scholarship.
He said Evans obtained 8As and one C4 in National Board for Technical Education, NABTEB, with Salesmanship as tradename.
He was also awarded Certificate of Competence in Welding and Metal Fabrication from Class one to three.
In 2024, he obtained his NCE with Merit from Yelwa Central College of Education, Abeokuta, Ogun State and that Evans wants to go as far as a PhD . Evans was Born 22nd April 1981.
The prosecutor didn’t not object to request for plea bargain.
Justice Coker fixed February 20 for report on development on Evans’ application for plea bargain.
