LAGOS, Nigeria – Show host and columnist, Mr. Sam Omatseye has been honoured by Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association.  The ancient school produced the likes of  former Army Chief, General David Ejoor, former Editor of Daily Times, Mr. Peter Enahoro and former chairman, Board of Directors, Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Chief Gamaliel Onosode, Publisher of Vangaurd Newspaper, Mr. Sam Pemu Amuka, Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN among other notable personalities.

Speaking during the occasion, Dean Department of English and Literary Studies at the Delta State University, Abraka Campus, Professor Awhefeada Sunday who teachers African Literature,  Third World Literature and  Literary Theory  described Sam Omatseye as the best literary stylist in Nigeria and  best in style writing in the continent.

He said  he does not agrees with some of his writings, but that a literary critic must be objective, adding that he has had opportunity to make post-graduate students to do critical evaluation of Mr. Sam Omatseye’ s style of writing.

“I rate him the best  literary stylist in Nigeria,  best in style  writing in the continent. I don’t agree with some of the things he writes  but as a critic you  have to be objective”, he said.

He describes Government College Ughelli, which he said he is proud to associate with as both  a national heritage and a global brand in the league of Barewa College, Zaria,  Government College, Ibadan,  Government College, Umuahia,  Kings College and Queens College in Lagos.

He said Government College Ughelli has lost what made it a school of choice in contemporary Nigeria,  hoping that the old boys association will do all it can to return it to the academic excellence that it was noted for in the past.
