BERLIN – Former Germany captain Alexandra Popp has renewed her Wolfsburg contract by one year until 2026, the Bundesliga club said on Monday.
Popp, 33, has been at Wolfsburg since 2012 and won three Champions Leagues, seven Bundesliga titles and 13 German Cups with them.
“It’s no secret that I feel very comfortable at VfL Wolfsburg and am grateful for the trust placed in me over many years,” Popp said in a club statement.
The three-time German women’s Footballer of the Year said there was a concept and ideas “to continue to professionalise VfL in order to remain competitive at national and international level.”
The forward ended her international career last week after 145 caps, highlighted by Olympic gold in 2016, a Euro 2022 runner-up finish and Olympic bronze in August.
