MUNICH – Jamal Musiala will miss Germany’s upcoming Nations League matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Netherlands with a hip problem, the national federation DFB said.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann has nominated Jamie Leweling from VfB Stuttgart for the first time in place of Musiala, who will also miss Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga topper at Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

Musiala’s absence is a big blow for club and country, and he joins goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen and striker Niclas Füllkrug on the national team sidelines.

The 21-year-old is a key player at Bayern and Germany up front.

Bayern said he would be out of action “for the time being” after he played only in the second half of their mid-week Champions League defeat at Aston Villa ad then underwent medical tests.

Germany play Bosnia-Herzegovina on October 11 in Zenica and the Dutch three days later in Munich.

Bayern’s next matches after the international break are against last season’s runners-up VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga and Barcelona in the Champions League.
