LONDON – There is raucous in parliament in the United Kingdom over the decision of new Labour Prime Minister, Keir Starmer to accept gifts worth about 100,000 British Pounds.
The raucous following news of the gifts seems to have had more profound impact on Labour MPs, who see the scandal as coming too early for their party which grabbed power just few months ago.
So far, the incident has forced Rosie Duffield of the Labour party to tender her resignation.
More MPs are expected to fall in line in the coming days.
Keir Starmer reportedly accepted donor gifts worth 100,000 British Pounds, even while forcing through controversial austerity measures.
Starmer is also pushing for a vote on winter fuel payments for up to 10 million pensioners and keeping a cap on child benefits.
