Israel confirms death of 8 soldiers in Hezbollah ambush in Lebanon

SOUTHERN LEBANON – The Israeli Defence Forces, IDF has confirmed that eight soldiers were killed when the Lebanese Islamic Resistant, Hezbollah ambushed them in Southern Lebanon at the beginning of their ground operation in the area.

Hezbollah earlier said there was fierce resistance forcing the IDF to retreat. The eight  Israeli soldiers were killed when Hezbollah detonated a bomb on the forces.

However in  a statement, the IDF provided the names of the soldiers that fell. It earlier confirmed death of one soldier.

According to Spokesman of the IDF, Rear Admiral, Daniel Hagari said the seven fallen soldiers whose families have been notified were cleared for publication
Attached are the names of the fallen soldiers:

– Captain Harel Etinger, aged 23, from Eli, a Squad Commander in the ‘Egoz’ Unit, Commando Brigade, fell during combat in southern Lebanon.

– Captain Itai Ariel Giat, aged 23, from Shoham, an officer in the ‘Yahalom’ Unit, Combat Engineering Corps, fell during combat in southern Lebanon.

– Sergeant First Class Noam Barzilay, aged 22, from Kokhav Ya’ir Tzur Yigal, a soldier in the ‘Egoz’ Unit, Commando Brigade, fell during combat in southern Lebanon.

– Sergeant First Class Or Mantzur, aged 21, from Beit Aryeh-Ofarim, a soldier from the ‘Egoz’ Unit, Commando Brigade, fell during combat in southern Lebanon.

– Sergeant First Class Nazaar Itkin, aged 21, from Kiryat Ata, a soldier from the ‘Egoz’ Unit, Commando Brigade, fell during combat in southern Lebanon.

– Staff Sergeant Almken Terefe, aged 21, from Jerusalem, a soldier from the Golani Reconnaissance Unit, Golani Brigade, fell during combat in southern Lebanon.

– Staff Sergeant Ido Broyer, aged 21, from Ness Ziona, a soldier from the Golani Reconnaissance Unit, Golani Brigade, fell during combat in southern Lebanon.
