ABUJA, Nigeria – The Department of State Service, DSS has released President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero.
He was released ahead of the NLC National Executive Council, NEC meeting scheduled for today in Abuja.
Recall that Ajaero was arrested on Monday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on his way to function organised by Trade Union Congress, TUC and was detained by the National Security Adviser in his office.
The union thereafter demanded his immediate release before 12 midnight on Monday and began the process of mobilization for a strike by summoning a NEC meeting for today at 10am.
The demands of the NLC also include immediate implementation of the National Minimum Wage, signed into law by President Bola Tinubu and the reversal of the pump price of petrol to N617 per litre before the recent 200 percent increment which has seen some buying petrol at N1200 per liter in some states across the federation.
The NLC also demanded for release of #endhunger and #endbadgovernance protesters incarcerated by the government and it will not be keep silent under oppression by “forces of retrogression”.
