LAGOS – The Dangote Refinery has again accused the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPCL of churning out lies to Nigerians on the price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS otherwise called fuel from its complex in the Lekki Free Trade Zone.
In a statement, Chief Branding and Communications Officer of the Dangote Group, Mr. Anthony Chiejina said the statement credited to the Spokesperson of NNPCL, Mr. Olufemi Soneye to the effect that Dangote Refinery sold PMS to NNPCL at N898 per litre is not true.
According to him, the statement is both misleading and mischievous, aimed at undermining the milestone achievement recorded today towards addressing energy inefficiency and security which has bedevilled the economy in the past 50 years.
“We urged Nigerians to disregard this malicious statement and await a formal announcement on the pricing by the Technical Subcommittee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries appointed by his Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR which will commence October 1, 2024, bearing in mind that our present stock of crude was procured in Dollars”.
As he puts it, “It should also be noted that we sold the product to NNPCL in Dollars with alot of savings against what they were currently importing”, he said, adding with this action there will be petrol in every local government of the country regardless of their remote nature.
He assured Nigerians of availability of quality petroleum products and putting an end to endemic fuel scarcity in the country.
