KHAN YOUNIS – The Israeli Defence Forces, IDF has announced that it succeeded in freeing one captive held in captivity by the Palestinian Resistant Movement, Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, Spokesman for the IDF, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the Alkadi was abducted by Hamas into the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023
“Qaid Farhan Alkadi was rescued by Shayetet 13, the 401st Brigade, Yahalom, and ISA forces under the command of the 162nd Division in a complex operation in the southern Gaza Strip”, he said, adding that no further details can be published due to considerations of the safety of the hostages and the security of IDF forces, and national security.
“He is in a stable medical condition and is being transferred for medical checks at a hospital. His family has been updated with the details, and the IDF is accompanying them”, he added, stressing that Israeli security forces will continue to operate with all means to bring home the hostages.
However, there are reports that Qaid Farhan al-Qadi(52) an Arab man was abandoned in a tunnel in Khan Younis by his guard and was preparing to come back home when the Israeli commando arrived and begged him to allow them to announce his name as a “rescued hostage’”.
Meanwhile, the Chief of General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi, completed a situational assessment along with the Commanding Officer of the Southern Command, the Head of the Operations Directorate (J3), the Head of the Intelligence Directorate (J2), MG Nitzan Alon, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories Unit, and representatives from the ISA, after the rescue of the hostage Qaid Farhan Alkadi, and approved the continuation of operations in the field, on his way to a visit to the Jordan Valley.
The Chief of General Staff concluded: “We are doing everything we can to save all of the hostages. The IDF and ISA show bravery, determination and initiative in complex operations in the battlefield.”
