Labour accepts N70,000 minimum wage proposed by President Tinubu

ABUJA, Nigeria – Organised labour, comprising Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC has accepted the N70,000 minimum wage proposed by President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement, Comrade Joe Ajaero, President NLC said labour accepted the offer after a meeting with the Nigerian President.

According to him, NEC in session after an exhaustive deliberation commended and applauded the doggedness of the leadership of the Congress their courage and forthrightness for which they handled the national minimum wage matter.

NEC he said accepted the President’s offer of N70,000 as the National Minimum Wage and the three years tenure for its review.

“Demanded strict and full compliance by all to the dictates of the National minimum wage 2024 when it becomes an Act”, he said.

The NLC said the demands were made in solidarity with the Nigerian workers.

NLC called on workers to unite and hold leadership accountable to the same standards of sacrifice and service.
