LAGOS, Nigeria – Emeritus President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo will chair a gathering of industrialists, scientists, entrepreneurs, and intellectuals at the public presentation of a significant new book, the memoir of award-winning scientist Dr Kenny Acholonu.
The presentation of the book Kenny Acholonu (2024), Who Will Give You The Technology?, will take place on 20 June 2024 at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Prof Okey Ikechukwu of the ThisDay Editorial Board will be the book reviewer.
Dr Acholonu is a remarkable individual who holds three American patents in organic chemical synthesis and two Nigerian patents in micronutrient fortification. He is the visionary founder of Micronutrient Laboratories Limited and the former leader of BioOrganics Nutrient Systems Limited. His expertise was recognised by F. Hoffman La Roche, where he served as a director in Nigeria.
Dr Acholonu’s book, Who Will Give You The Technology?, is not just a memoir but a unique narrative that offers a fresh perspective on his entrepreneurial journey in the rarefied field of science. It delves into the challenge posed by his Caucasian boss, who questioned his ability to create technology. It also tells the Nigerian story of innovation and fortification of food and beverages, including Bournvita, Vitalo, Maltina, bread, Nasco Corn flakes and other brands and products.
Obasanjo is familiar with the author and the book’s subject as a customer through Obasanjo Farms Limited and as a former Head of State and two-term president (1999-2007) who executed policies on agriculture, science, and industrialisation in Nigeria.
