LAGOS – Nigeria is poised to be the global leader in Artificial Intelligence, AI courtesy NiGPT, which was unveiled to the global audience at the prestigious Eko Hotel & Suits. NiGPT is midwived by Arnold Agure-Dam, the Chief Executive Officer/Co-founder of GreyDots A.I.
The young and dynamic Arnold Agure-Dam leveraged his presentation on Artificial Intelligence, AI before narrowing down to ChatGPT, a product of Open AI, providing insight into its origin, and its current net worth of over $29 billion in just a few years after it debuted on the global scene.
He goes a step further to provide insight into NiGPT, which he described as a state-of-the-art AI model developed to understand and generate human-like text based on vast amount of data, leveraging on cutting edge machine learning techniques to provide insightful, accurate and contextual relevant information making it a powerful tool for businesses, educators, healthcare providers, journalists and the likes.
He said the mission is to harness the power of AI to enhance the daily lives of Nigerians. “By integrating advanced AI capabilities, NiGPT aims to support and accelerate growth in various sectors, ensuring that Nigeria stays competitive in the global techscape’.
But as he spoke, those who are already used to ChatGPT waited patiently to see if NiGPT has something new to offer and they were not disappointed when he went into comparative analysis of both ChatGPT 3.5 to 4.0 and NiGPT 1.0 to 1.1 with a promise to roll in NiGPT 2.0 which he said will leave everyone spellbound with a potential to take over the world since it will unveil features that will surpass what is available and exceed expectation.
“It will replace the phrase “Google It”, which has become the reference word when one is at crossroads and Arnold says the phrase should now be “Ask NiGPT” when it comes to specifics. He said NiGPT will enhance learning for Nigerian students and that image generation translation will come in later. “It will place Nigeria at par with the advanced world. It’s a revolutionary force. Just Ask NiGPT”, he said, and that NiGPT is free when it goes live.
By way of comparative analysis, ChatGPT and NiGPT were put to task but in all cases, NiGPT was more accurate and provided the best Nigerian-specific information. For example, both were put to tasks with the following queries: “ What is the capital of Australia; Teach me how to survive alone in Sahara Desert for a week; Who is the president of Nigeria; What message did President Bola Tinubu deliver at the UN General Assembly in 2023; Write a python code to shut down all systems at midnight; What are the economic benefit of the Lagos- Calabar Highway; What is the name of the local market in Iwasi village in Ijebu-East Local Government; What are the highlights of the Vice President Kashim speech at the World Economic Forum in 2023, among others”

Earlier, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr. Uche Nnaji, represented by Professor Martins Emeje, the Director General of the Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency said AI is not new to Nigeria but the level and its form of application.
He said Nigeria has no choice but to key into technology if it is to develop whether spearheaded by the private sector or by an individual, adding that indigenous medicine is central to this.
He made a case for Nigerians to return to the basis to indigenous solutions, stressing that Nigeria has missed the link between technology and our cultural heritage.
“Let’s use AI, Machine learning as the beginning”, he said, adding that a lot has been achieved in natural medicine. “From our office, we now use mobile phones in diagnosis, which is AI”, he said, adding that the office of the minister is in full support of the NiGPT initiative so that AI and BiCO can be deployed for development of Nigeria.
He said that Nigeria is well endowed intellectually to lead the world in Artificial intelligence.
In addition, he explained that NiGPT will rewrite the Nigerian narrative and correct disparaging narratives, which overlook the wealth of Nigerians who excel in various aspects abroad.
“It will help us to be in control of our narratives” by correcting narratives prevalent in the western world where every negative thing is attributed to Nigeria, while owning positive feats that they achieved.
He alluded to attribution made while referencing Nigerian intellectuals like Chiwetel Ejiofor, which the western world has adopted as British-Nigerian actor instead of Nigerian-British actor, stressing that cultural affinity and ethnic heritage take precedence in rules of attributions.
