Says Netanyahu has committed to ceasefire deal

JERUSALEM – US Secretary of State, Anthony J. Blinken has met with Prime of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem.
Secretary Blinken flew into Jerusalem following the unanimous votes of the United Nations Security Council, UNSC supporting the US proposed three-phase ceasefire deal for Gaza. Russia however abstained at the voting stage, based on terms if feels were ambiguous in the draft.
Blinken told reporters after the meeting that Netanyahu has committed to the ceasefire deal and that the onus is now on Hamas.
Prior to meeting Netanyahu, Blinken met with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant during which he discussed the proposal to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza as part of a hostage deal, secure the release of all hostages, and surge in humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza.
The Secretary commended Israel’s readiness to conclude a deal and affirmed that the onus is on Hamas to accept.
He underscored the proposal would advance Israel’s long-term security interests, including by enabling the possibility of further integration in the region. He reaffirmed the United States’ ironclad commitment to Israel’s security.
