GAZA, Palestine – The Government Media Office in Gaza has said that 274 people were killed by Israel on Saturday in the raid of a refugee camp in the quest to rescue four Israeli captives.

Meanwhile there has been a lot of celebration in Israel and in the camp of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the successful operation that led to the rescue of the captives.

In a video released by Israeli Defence Forces, the prime minister was seen embracing the captives and celebrating  with families of those released, even as  families of those believed to be still under captivity in Gaza continued their protest to pressurise the Netanyahu to negotiate and bring the over 100 captives still being held in Gaza home.

The Gaza Media office made the revelation just as Hamas released a video in which it stated that three(3) captives held in the Gaza  strip, one of them an American, was killed during  ‘Operation Amon’ .

Meanwhile the IDF has said that soldiers rescued the hostages and the special forces under fire adding that one of the commanders died during the operation.

“The Paratrooper Reconnaissance Unit Combat Team led the rescue of the hostages and the Yamam and ISA forces from the vehicles while under fire, while continuing to eliminate terrorists.

“The Shaldag special forces of the IAF and the Yamam directed the airstrikes and activation of fire throughout the operation.

“Soldiers of Unit 669 and the Shaldag Unit protected the life of Israel Police ‘Yamam’ Squad Commander, Chief Inspector Arnon Zamora z”l, from the moment of the encounter until arriving at the hospital, where he died of his wounds.
