“My daughter made the right decision. If she is arrested fighting for Palestine I will be the happiest daddy. She is doing the right thing. If the police arrest me now I am willing to go with the students. I have no problem because what I am doing is the right thing, fighting against genocide

UNITED STATES – Law enforcement officers(police) in the United States seem to have jettisoned the much touted freedom of expression and the familiar slogan, ‘America, the land of freedom’ in their quest to stop the fast spreading pro-Palestinian protest in campuses in the United States, following ongoing genocidal war wagged by Israel with full support by President Joe Biden which has claimed over 34,000 lives, including almost 14,000 children.
Israel embarked on this unprecedented bloodbath following the October 7 attack by Hamas which claimed 1, 139 Israelis at a concert in Jerusalem.
The pro-Palestinian protest which started in the streets of the United States moved into the campuses after 200 days of bloody collective massacre of the Palestinian people under guise of dealing with Hamas(the armed wing of the Palestinian Movement).
The recent discoveries of mass graves with children, patients and medical personnel summarily executed in Gaza with reports that about 20 were buried alive by the occupation forces, the students are determined to force President Joe Biden to reign in the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu to stop this unprecedented bloodshed and wanton destruction of lives and property in Gaza.
It is even more infuriating for the students that it is in the midst of this endless massacre and international pressure to reign in Israel that President Joe Biden signed a total package of $95 billion aid package in arms for Israel to use in the ongoing genocide, and for Ukraine to defend itself against the occupation forces of Russia and for Taiwan to defend itself against any threat by China.
Even though the approach by the students has been peaceful, devoid of any violence, with sit-in and camping, the law enforcement officers resorted to force, unleashing violence on students, professors and journalists who are covering the event.
Caroline Fohlin, a Professor of Economics at Emory University, Georgia was brutally taken down by two policemen with her glasses flung out of her eyes. They paid no heed to her repeated plea that she is a professor. The Chair of the Philosophy Department was equally taken down.
At the University of Pennsylvania, the students have resulted to sit-in in solidarity with the people of Palestine, the same scenario is playing out at George Washington University as many sit in tenths refusing to leave until President Joe Biden brings about a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The NBC is reporting that about 40 American and Canadian Universities and colleges have set up tenths in solidarity with the Palestinian people to end this bloodshed.
At least 20 students were arrested at Bloomington University, Indiana. At Ohio State University, students in tenths were beaten and tased by angry arm wielding policemen.
So far, the Indiana University Police Department says it has arrested 33 people on campus after the aggrieved students refused to remove their tenths. Reuters reported this is besides the 550 Pro-Palestinian protesters that were arrested last week across universities in the United States. But it seems there is no way to end this protest now spreading into Europe but a permanent ceasefire.
At the University of Southern California, USC, a parent whose daughter studies in the university said he is proud of her daughter for protesting to stop ongoing genocide in Palestine.
“My daughter made the right decision. If she is arrested fighting for Palestine I will be the happiest daddy. She is doing the right thing. If the police arrest me now, I am willing to go with the students. I have no problem because what I am doing is the right thing, fighting against genocide.
